Wisconsin — Since 2022, Partnership for a Healthy Wisconsin, a collaboration between the Wisconsin Partnership Program and Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin, has teamed up with Catchafire to provide urgently needed support to nonprofits in the region by matching them with professional, skilled volunteers. In the last year, volunteers from Catchafire’s pool of active and steady volunteers—nearly 90,000—stepped in to help Wisconsin nonprofits meet critical needs.

“As we strive to build a healthier Wisconsin, our collaboration with Catchafire has been instrumental in addressing the pressing challenges faced by nonprofits in our region. It’s a testament to the power of skilled volunteers coming together to support these vital organizations in their missions.”

“Together with Catchafire, we’re connecting skilled volunteers with nonprofits in need,” says Dr. Amy J.H. Kind, MD, PhD, Associate Dean for Social Health Sciences and Program at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and Executive Director of the Wisconsin Partnership Program. “We’re pleased to partner with Catchafire and the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment to support community partners across Wisconsin in strengthening their capacity and advancing their work and missions.”

Catchafire helps to strengthen nonprofits by matching professionals who want to donate their time with organizations that need their skills. Through this renewed partnership, nonprofits throughout Wisconsin will continue to have access to Catchafire’s dedicated skills-based volunteers. Nonprofits sponsored by the Foundation have used Catchafire’s platform to complete projects that address their immediate needs. To date, nonprofits have saved over $526K in pro bono support with more than 2,511 volunteer hours donated since 2022.

“We’re excited to continue our work with Partnership for a Healthy Wisconsin to help them fulfill their community grant partners' unmet needs. As we renew our partnership, we are inspired by the shared vision of driving meaningful change and empowering communities. Together, we will amplify the impact of skilled volunteering, unlocking new opportunities for social good and fostering a brighter future for the Wisconsin region."

Catchafire volunteers offer assistance on a wide variety of projects, including fundraising, data management, business systems development, technical writing, and graphic design. Each volunteer is a skilled professional in their field, who is recruited by Catchafire based on their skills and passions and then matched with area nonprofits. Wisconsin nonprofits are reaping the rewards.

Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP), a nonprofit whose mission is to improve the quality of life for people in our communities who are affected by mental illness and/or substance use issues, has been working with virtual volunteer Leah C., to improve their marketing strategy. The visual brand guide project they completed through Catchafire has provided them the framework they needed to solidify their storytelling.

“Leah's expertise with creating our visual brand guide is a springboard for our agency to take our branding to the next level. Her professionalism and patience over the course of the project resulted in a guide we will use for many years. It has put us on the path of consistency with our marketing communications,” says Julie R., Agency Planning & Marketing Coordinator at SWCAP. To date, SWCAP has matched with volunteers on 11 projects, saving them $41,039 in consulting fees.
