Mission

The Art of Cool Project (AOCP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, presenting, and promoting the local vibrant, varied, and surprisingly under-appreciated jazz and art scene in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina.

What We Do

We connect music and art to the people of the Triangle. We do this by presenting concerts in local art galleries twice a month. We also send out a weekly jazz guide. We do niche marketing for music venues and musicians. All of this is done to keep jazz (a traditional American art form) from "dying". In 2008 NEA survey data showed that only 8% of Americans attended a live jazz performance within the past 12 months. The audience for jazz is getting older and decreasing. We seek to expand the audience for jazz by appealing to visual art lovers and a slightly younger audience.
