Mission

Our mission has three crucial parts:
1. Rescue and rehabilitate orphaned and injured native wildlife in Central Virginia, and release them back into the wild.
2. Inform our fellow citizens about what to do when they find an injured or orphaned wild animal, and who to contact for help.
3. Educate the citizens of Central Virginia about the habitats and needs of native wildlife.

What We Do

We intake over 850 wild animals annually who have been injured and orphaned, most often due to human disturbance. We have a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility, featuring two indoor nurseries, and 52 outdoor enclosures situated in rural Nelson County, Virginia - perfect for helping our wildlife patients feel their best. When not caring for our many patients, we offer free educational programming to community groups of all ages featuring our team of nine non-releasable Education Ambassador animals. By providing folks with an opportunity to see these fascinating critters up close, we help foster personal connections with wildlife and inspire people to live more mindfully alongside their wild neighbors.
