Mission

Our mission is to educate people of all backgrounds on basic nutrition principles and teach them how to plan and prepare simple, delicious and nutritious meals in a supportive and safe environment that fosters community spirit.

What We Do

We provide healthy cooking enrichment and nutrition education programs to underserved youth, families and adults experiencing homelessness in DC. From full time aft-erschool to summer youth programs, WIC education programs for young families to adult education programs at local shelters; every experience includes the opportunity to cook in a safe, welcoming and collaborative learning environment. From ages 6 - 12 in our youth programs, young people learn how to cook healthy on a budget, develop critical thinking skills pertaining to health, learn about food/social justice topics and gain academic enrichment in the process! Adults at our shelter programs learn how to take control of their health and therefore seek a more sustainable pathway to prosperity. Young families learn how to cook for their children, shop smart and be mindful of their nutritional intake. We operate our programs at community centers, shelters, schools, housing sites and where ever duty calls! As the youth in our programs like to say: nutrition is the mission!
