CCLT's mission is to build a statewide land trust community equal to the challenge and privilege of conserving our extraordinary land and water resources for all Californians.

What We Do

There is nowhere on earth like the great state of California. For the past 10 years, the California Council of Land Trusts has served as a unified voice for over 150 land trusts throughout the state, supporting the work of the land trust community and land and water conservation overall.

Land trusts work with residents, land owners and agencies to conserve natural areas, parks, open spaces and farmlands for the benefit of all Californians, urban and rural alike. We work to ensure that they have the resources they need to continue with this important work—offering educational opportunities, communication about new research or conservation tools, and an advocate on policy issues at the State Capitol.

Recognizing that future demographic, political, financial and resource trends compel land trusts to operate in new and smarter ways to remain effective, CCLT is leading Conservation Horizons, a ground-breaking planning effort to chart a future course for land trusts that meets both changing conservation and community needs across the state..
