Flexible Human Resources Support

Project details

What we need
  • Ongoing HR support for 10-15 hours over the course of 4 weeks
  • Support may include: hiring, compensation & benefits, HR policy & procedure, performance management, and/or workplace culture
  • Note: We devised this project to connect nonprofits and volunteers for more flexible, more immediate impact. We strongly suggest you start with 4 weeks and decide from there if you'd like to continue working. For this project, we also recommend working with a volunteer who is knowledgeable about the Organization's state policies
Additional details

We are looking for an HR expert to support us as we expand and professionalize our HR functions.

What we have in place
  • We currently have the ideas, policy, background, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a team dedicated to making this work, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $1,955 , allowing us to invest those dollars into programs and support that directly impact abused and neglected children

SCAN is a growing organization. While we were once a small shop with part-time operational help, today we are in a position to begin evolving and building a dept that functions strategically and supports our short- and long-term goals. This support would be transformational for SCAN - helping us further our work while supporting the front line who make our impact possible.

Our mission

SCAN of Northern Virginia promotes the well-being of children, improves parent-child relations and prevents child abuse and neglect by: educating the community about child abuse/neglect and the importance of positive parenting; providing parent education; and advocating for children in the community, the legislature and the courts.

What we do

The Alexandria/Arlington Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program is a program of SCAN of Northern Virginia, a not-for-profit organization committed to speaking for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the Virginia Juvenile Courts. CASA recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who advocate for this vulnerable population. Once sworn in, advocates are appointed by Family Court Judges to represent and advocate for a child's best interests while they are involved with the child protection system. They gather information from the children, families, and professionals involved in the case and submit a written report to the court with their findings and recommendations. It is every volunteer's job to be an objective observer while they advocate for the children they serve. The CASA program's primary goal is to ensure that each and every child is permitted to grow up in a safe, stable, and permanent home.
