Project details

What we need
  • Designs for one piece of marketing or communications collateral (e.g., fact sheet, case study, event invitations)
  • Templates with accurate, print-ready specifications
  • Note: Please post an additional project if more than one piece of collateral is needed
Additional details

This large design project may be more time-consuming than others. We hope the project will include creation of graphs using data we supply to convey the information in a clean, compelling manner. Ideally, the finished product would be in Publisher format so we can edit it later if necessary.

What we have in place
  • The text of the report is complete. We also have a completed earlier version of this report. While we do not want it to be identical, it is a good starting point.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,639 , allowing us to provide nearly 100 hours of legal services aimed at changing systems that perpetuate poverty.

Hawaii Appleseed advocates for lasting changes to systems that perpetuate poverty using a variety of tools including research and report writing. Our work in this area is well-respected and relied upon by policy-makers and the media (see here: http://hiappleseed.org/newsroom), helping to direct the public conversation on anti-poverty issues. One of our must successful publications has been our State of Poverty in Hawaii report (see http://hiappleseed.org/state-poverty-hawaii), which has provided a foundation for many of our anti-poverty efforts. We have written an updated report, and are looking for help formatting it in a way that will increase its credibility and impact.

Our mission

Hawai'i Appleseed is working to build a more socially just Hawai'i, where everyone has genuine opportunities to achieve economic security and fulfill their potential. We change systems that perpetuate inequality and injustice through policy development, coalition building, and advocacy.

What we do

At Hawai'i Appleseed, we carry out our mission by engaging in:

- Advocacy at state and local departments to ensure that the policies, laws, and practices intended to address the problems of those living in poverty are well designed and implemented fairly and effectively

- Policy reports that educate and inform key stakeholders of the issues facing the communities we represent and provide ingenious, high-quality solutions to the problems that we work on

- Workshops and other educative measures to inform low income individuals and groups of their rights and how to exercise them

- Grassroots coalition-building with other community groups who share a common interest in alleviating poverty in Hawai'i, and supporting the work of public interest advocates in Hawai'i through collaborative partnerships
