What we need
  • Document that articulates in a consistent voice key messages about the Organization’s identity, constituents, mission, and vision
  • Creation of taglines and talking points to help the Organization communicate clearly and concisely
  • Recommendations on tailoring messaging for common communication channels (e.g., website copy, printed marketing collateral, pitching verbally)
What we have in place
  • We have the existing copy on our web site, donor-facing materials and letters, and student-facing materials.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,600 , allowing us to send 5 underserved young people to camp this summer.

We are a relatively young organization at a critical point in our growth. While we have some pieces of a brand message -- such as our commitment to Healthy Body, Healthy Heart, and Healthy Mind -- we need help determining the best way to represent the work we do. We also need support in documenting consistent language we will use to talk about the work we do with youth.

Our mission

Steve's Camp at Horizon Farms empowers young people to develop healthy bodies, hearts, and minds. Our summer camp is the cornerstone of our work. At camp, participants learn healthy living, leadership, and problem-solving skills. During the school year, campers deepen these skills to emerge as leaders and prepare for fulfilling lives after high school.

What we do

The summer camp experience is the starting point of a journey that encompasses campers' high school careers.

Coming to camp allows underserved teens - many of whom have never been away from home before - to work toward developing healthy bodies, hearts, and minds in a new environment. However, creating lasting change in our campers’ lives requires more than twelve days each summer. So, we stay connected with camp alumni in several ways:

Weekend Workshops that keep campers connected to the camp community and help them prepare and plan for life after high school

In-School Enrichment Programming (currently a pilot) that provides intensive socioemotional and academic support to camp alumni and new recruits

Leadership Development through work opportunities for camp alumni, including our Counselor-in-Training program
