Project details

What we need
  • A concise, well-articulated letter (not exceeding two pages) to request funds from individual donors
Additional details

The Richmond Resilience Initiative team orchestrates a guaranteed income pilot in Richmond, VA. We operate entirely off of private donations. We are looking for help constructing individual donor letters that can help us reach donors (small) to help buoy our programming into the next year.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a donation link/page that is already live, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a page on the website with information about our program, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,140 , allowing us to reappropriate those funds into a program manager fund - for which we are currently hiring

We are attempting to transition to small donations from the public in the city of Richmond to gain collective buy in from our community members. Cities like Nashville have seen large giving projects from their community, which helps with advocacy points that the citizens are behind guaranteed income alongside the leadership.

Our mission

In October 2020, Robins Foundation and the City of Richmond again partnered to jointly seed the first fully funded guaranteed income pilot through the national initiative, Mayors for a Guaranteed Income (MGI). Titled "Richmond Resilience Initiative" (RRI), the pilot provides $500 per month for 24 months to 18 working parents experiencing the "cliff effect," or loss of safety net supports due to increases in income even if below a living wage. Recipients access wraparound supports through implementation partner, Richmond Office of Community Wealth Building.
