Project details

What we need
  • Specific copy from one document (up to 1000 words) translated from one language to one other of the Organization's choice
  • Note: If you need more than 1000 words translated or copy translated into more than one language, please post additional versions of this project
Additional details

FARSI translation: We would like to translate our Student Commitment Document into FARSI. It is approximately 350 words.

What we have in place
  • We have the document ready, and our staff is available to provide any clarification.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,868 , allowing us to devote more resources to student outreach and supporting tutor-student pairs.

We serve the literacy needs of ESL/ELL learners in Oakland County. They come from many countries. We want Oakland Literacy Council to be a welcoming environment. We also want to make sure all our students clearly understand expectations. While we could use an automated translator, we want to be sure that the translation conveys the meaning properly and respects the language and culture.

Our mission

The Oakland Literacy Council believes that all people have a fundamental right to literacy. With support from our funders, we pair trained, compassionate tutors with adult learners until they become proficient readers, writers, and communicators. As literate adults, they make our communities and our democracy stronger. They contribute to our economy, exercise their voice in their communities, and give their children a solid educational foundation. The Oakland Literacy Council is the only organization dedicated solely to ending adult illiteracy in Oakland County, a large metro Detroit community of 1.25 million people.

What we do

We help low-literate adults with reading, writing, English comprehension and speaking, and digital literacy skills. One on one tutors, online curriculum, and small group instruction is used to further student goals.

Testimonials

Kaan did a great job on the translation project -- communicated with me, followed the model, completed the work on time, including additional paragraphs that I added to the project. A pleasure!
