Project details

What we need
  • Clear roadmap to guide our campaign launch, execution, and wrap-up, including how to build this campaign on a global level;
  • Well-defined strategies and tips to run our campaign to meet our goals (in terms of unique users, views, sharing, buzz, media attention, fundraising);
  • Expert consultation and support throughout campaign implementation; including messaging, scheduling, outreach and commenting;
  • Training throughout so we are equipped to run our next campaign on our own.
What we have in place
  • We currently have Facebook and Twitter accounts, and two full-time staff ready to work on this project, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have the ability to recruit volunteers as needed, and the ability to provide any other information you need!
How this will help
This project will save us $3,500 , allowing us to invest in half the start-up costs of 1 women's water venture in Rwanda, serving over 2500 people.

We have recently built a new interactive site, called the Grassroots Wisdom Project, where we invite users from around the world to share a quote of personal wisdom. We want to generate buzz with this site to help raise visibility for our work with grassroots women and girls.

www.grassrootswisdomproject.org asks "What do you know to be true from your unique life experience? It is a way for our donor base to get more involved in our work, a chance to share our belief that every person has wisdom worth sharing, a platform to highlight the insights of the women and girls we work with in Africa, a space to create a sense of equality among all individuals, a place for people to find inspiration worth sharing, a method to introduce our work to others, a campaign to build buzz and a channel for donations.

Our mission

Our mission is to unite, empower and support relief of poor, distressed and underprivileged women worldwide. Our purpose is to catalyze the development of conscious communities of change agents who will work independently, collectively and systemically to advance the rights and wellbeing of women and girls.

What we do

Our core program is our Academy for Conscious Change, a mindfulness-based leadership program and social venture incubator that catalyzes vulnerable women and girls who wish to launch their own grassroots organizations. The Academy lasts 12-18 months, the pace of which is driven by the teams, and offers the following high-engagement support services in four phases:

1. Intensive, interactive 40-hour training program, incorporating (a) mindfulness-based leadership and personal growth practices, (b) mind-body trauma healing and (c) social entrepreneurship and non-profit management skills
2. 3- 6 months of hands-on non-profit venture development facilitation
3. Seed grants and implementation support
4. 12-months non-profit apprenticeship with ongoing, high-engagement advisory support

Since 2006, Global Grassroots has trained over 500 emerging change agents in Rwanda, Northern Uganda, Liberia, Cameroon and the US, who have designed more than 150 civil society organizations serving 175,000 people.
