What we need
  • 6-8 coaching sessions with a staff member
  • Actionable steps and advice to address an ongoing managerial issue
  • Assessment of the effectiveness of the Organization's leadership team
What we have in place
  • There are 5 lead coaches across the state of Massachusetts. I support all of them in coaching early childhood programs through a grant funded by the department of early education and care. We have an online system and some protocols and processes in place. We meet regularly.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,198 , allowing us to Better serve children, teachers and families in Massachusetts.

Coming up with consistent protocols will help me guide and manage the lead coaches and subsequently help them manage and guide the coaches in their respective regions.

Milestone 1: Initial Assessment
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager discuss perceived areas of strength and area of improvement, leadership style, and assessment of team motivation and morale
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager decide on specific areas to focus on and goals for coaching sessions
  • Professional communicates if feedback from other members of the Organization will be necessary

Milestone 2: Coaching Sessions
  • In-depth discussions may include issues such as strategy and goal-setting, program management, personnel management, and board management
  • Various techniques may be employed by the Leadership Coach to achieve the desired results

Milestone 3: Wrap-up and Learnings
  • Volunteer Manager and Professional evaluate lessons learned and progress made
  • Volunteer Manager and Professional discuss areas and actionable items to focus on going forward

Our mission

At the Institute for Early Education Leadership and Innovation, we believe that the LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATION required to address the persistent challenges and systemic inequities in early care and education (ECE) must be driven by experts--early educators. The Institute designs, tests, and studies strategies and delivery models for developing entrepreneurial leadership from within the diverse ECE workforce to drive improvement and outcomes in ECE. Through our research, policy recommendations, and work with early educators, we cultivate new mindsets about the power and the possibilities for early educators to be the agents of change in the field.
