What we need
- Audit of the existing systems and processes; the audit is limited to hiring and termination practices, work scheduling, payroll processing, benefits administration, insurance, and compliance with federal and state employment laws
- Recommendation for process improvements and software providers (if necessary)
- Implementation of chosen software (if necessary)
- Training on maintenance tasks
Additional details
I am an HR department of one in a growing non-profit. While I have some HR background; as we grow, I just need to make sure that the practices I have put in place are comprehensive and make sure that I am not missing anything. I am currently writing SOP's for every aspect of my job and could use some feedback as to whether I am covering all the bases.
What we have in place
- As I inherited this HR role, I have grown it greatly through ongoing training. I have a detailed list of my duties and am currently writing SOP's for each area of responsibility. I also have an HR plan that an HR professional came up with in early 2019 showing areas she felt I needed to work on and where I am in the process of each area. It covers everything from Hiring/onboarding to performance and compliance. I think this would be a great springboard to assess where we are and need to go.
How this will help
This project will save us $6,746 , allowing us to put that money straight back into our program for adults with special needs and provide further services or scholarships.
Our organization has seen exponential growth and I want to make sure that we are compliant in all areas of responsibility and provide our employees with all the training and support they need to set them up for success. Having someone look at what is in place and help in areas that are not where they need to be would make us a stronger organization and provide clarity for employees.

Our mission is to provide an innovative vocational and residential commuity for adults with special needs, and to change the way the world views this population.
What we do
Our participants, who we call "Citizens," are adults with challenges such as autism, brain injury, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, epilepsy, and other diagnosed genetic differences. BiG believes that these individuals each possess unique talents and abilities, and we strive to give them the platform to share those gifts with our community.
Everything they make is sold in a beautiful gift shop (voted the Best Boutique in Georgetown the last three years in a row), a cafe (with a five-star rating on Yelp), and an online store. We have 80 Citizens on 3 campuses who have become artisans, bakers, gardeners, card makers, jewelry makers, and more.
