Project details

What we need
  • Training on how to create video content for web and specific social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
  • List of recommendations and best practices for shooting a video
  • Instructions for how to post videos to respective social media platforms
What we have in place
  • We are starting from the beginning. We have a phone camera tripod table-top stand; I've ordered a lighting ring to attach on to the camera phone; have a wired microphone if needed or can purchase a wireless if needed.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,397 , allowing us to have a significantly wider reach & improve interaction with members. As with every other non-profit feeling the strain on our economy, we operate on a shoe-string budget w/ 1 staff & few volunteers.

We need to use every means of connecting with our members, donors, and world-wide community. We feel that using video to communicate our organization's goals and needs is one of the most effective use of our time. We are committed to learning every aspect of digital marketing and will begin working with another Catchafire volunteer for our email and social media marketing, in this case, specifically for marketing a new book we published.

Our mission

Our Mission:
"To collect, protect, and preserve historic documents and sites; to disseminate the oral, written, pictorial history; and to educate ourselves, our residents, and our visitors, about the history and cultures of Kauai and Niihau."

What we do

Kauai Historical Society established in 1914, has a long history in Kauai County which consists of the islands of Kauai and Ni'ihau. Initially formed to protect the islands' historic places and document its history, our staff currently archive valuable written material in all forms, as well as photographs and various forms of media

Many volunteer staff have worked tirelessly to archive donated collections into the Society. It takes many hands and dedicated, skilled volunteers and staff to achieve what the Society has over its 107-year history.

We are led by a supportive Board of Directors.

Testimonials

Christina is very knowledgeable and experienced. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Christina. Her suggestions and the ideas shared helped our team to get a better idea of the kind of equipment we'd need to successfully complete a short video project.
