Project details
What we need
- Significant update to Organization’s existing CMS website, such as adding a new page, customizing a theme, adjusting layout, etc.
- Smaller update to Organization's non-CMS website
Additional details
We already have a functioning website on Squarespace. We want to revamp it. We have another Catchafire project going for copywriting some of the introductory/overview pages. We also have an outline for the way we want to update it. Volunteer must have experience with Squarespace and coding.
What we have in place
- We currently have an outline of the new website, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have content to rearrange, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,586 , allowing us to focus on all of our respective jobs as the staff of CCJ. We do not have the capacity or training to take this on ourselves, but our website is very important, so these changes will be invaluable to us
The revamped website will better reflect the changes that our organization has undergone in the last five years. In addition to environmental justice, we now focus on other types of justice that are interconnected with it, such as economic, racial, and social justice (what is sometimes referred to as intersectionality). We need for people to understand how these issues are connected and why it is more effective to address them all and to work collaboratively, so that we can accomplish much more.

Our mission
To improve policy and regulations for the oversight of fossil fuel extraction and use; to educate, empower and organize coalfield residents; and to protect public and environmental health.
What we do
Our approach for working with area residents values their knowledge about the land, waterways, and communities. We provide community members with detailed information about proposed projects and potential impacts so they can make informed decisions on individual or collective actions. Our recognition of local expertise is grounded in the belief that people who live with the daily impacts of fossil fuel extraction should be treated with the utmost respect. Our work is informed and directed by how local people think these industries should be held accountable for impacts. By blending organizing and legal work, we seek to create an expanded set of options for achieving justice than might be produced by following solely a legal or organizing approach.
