Additional details
Shark Stewards is a non-profit working in ocean health in addition to shark conservation. We do a lot of outreach at zoos, fairs and festivals to motivate action. We are increasing our ocean plastics outreach to support proposed legislation.
We are looking for a banner that features impacts on wildlife and the plastic pollution problem, including solutions at upcoming events- especially earth day.
What we have in place
- We currently have images and text, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have some experience in co-designing education materials, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $1,550 , allowing us to reach 10,000 people and influence policy regulating single use plastic manufacturing and use. This will visually engage youth and the public at events.
On average, 10 million tons of plastic enter the oceans each year. Plastics in the ocean is poisoning plankton fish, marine mammals and humans. We are only experiencing the tip of the iceberg of this insidious ocean health crisis. However, the solution to ocean plastic pollution is simple: it is something everyone can contribute towards. We want to connect actions to saving sharks and sea turtles and other marine life by reducing plastic use and pollution.
Project plan
Our mission
Saving Sharks For Ocean Health.
Shark Stewards mission is to restore ocean health by saving sharks from overfishing and the shark fin trade, and protecting critical marine habitat through the establishment of marine protected areas and shark sanctuaries.
What we do
We save sharks through science, education and advocacy. We apply the power of the many to save the most endangered sharks and rays through community science, outreach and local, national and international policy.
