We've have this program for almost 10 years and have never been evaluated. It's now a requirement. We would like to see it successfully running and expanding more. It brings funding to the organization. It provides much needed support to immigrant families for being reunited.
Project plan
Our mission
Since 1979, The Women's Building has represented, and been guided by, the belief that all women and girls have the right to safe, joyous and creative lives. The Women's Building is a women-led community space that advocates self-determination, gender equality and social justice.
What we do
On the outside, The Women's Building is best known for the magnificent 5-story mural that covers two sides of our building.
Inside, we welcome over 25,000 women and their families and focus on three areas:
* Connecting women and their families to resources in the Building and the Bay Area in order to increase their ability to lead productive lives: our Community Resource Room.
Our FREE services in Spanish and English include:
* Job search assistance, including resume writing and interview skills;
* Food Pantry for Immigrant Families - also in Chinese
* Computer Lab and computer-training classes;
* Information and referrals, plus Public Benefits screenings and legal assistance;
* Financial Management assistance, including free tax preparation and financial education.
* Fostering the work of other nonprofits serving women and girls. Nine groups share our building and enhance their work by interacting and partnering with each other.
