What we need
- Overhaul of the organization and structure of the Organization's existing website, or UX design for a new website
- Clear map of website’s structure (sitemap) with wireframes to accompany the layout; wireframes may include homepage, section pages, content detail pages, and form pages
- Flowcharts or specifications for the interactive features of the website
- A summary of the system components that will need to be styled for the site
- Note: We recommend this project for custom websites. If your site is built on a CMS platform like Wordpress or Squarespace that offers design templates, you may not need a UX design. Check out our Website Content Plan project for help designing a CMS-based website
What we have in place
- We currently have a functioning website run through Squarespace, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have dedicated staff to this project, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $11,946 , allowing us to serve more youth, more intentionally in our programs.
This project is important to Urban Boatbuilders because our website is outdated, and we're in the midst of celebrating our 25th anniversary. A new website would be a fantastic addition to our work.

Our mission
It is the mission of Urban Boatbuilders to empower youth to succeed in work and life through woodworking and experiential learning.
What we do
In 1995 a small group of community leaders saw an increased lack of opportunities for youth to learn and develop through hands-on activities, and thus formed the nonprofit Urban Boatbuilders. Since that time, this lack of hands-on opportunities has increased, along with youth unemployment rates and an increased emphasis on standardized testing in schools. Urban Boatbuilders seeks to address the gap this creates for youth to gain technical, social, and emotional skills that will prepare them to pursue their academic and vocational goals. Since Urban Boatbuilders was founded more than 20 years ago, the foundations of hands-on learning and skill-building have been used to create and continuously improve strong programs that help youth prepare themselves to pursue their own success in the modern world.
