Project details
What we need
- A compelling narrative, or set of stories
- Persuasive copy that can be used in appeals to donors, annual reports, grant applications, and media relations
- Popular examples: Organization's founding story, a program achievement or milestone, a look back at the past few years, organizational backgrounder, etc.
- Note: This project is not intended to support your general content planning or marketing but there are several projects in our Marketing & Communications category which are a good fit!
Additional details
We are in a 3 year partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the largest health specific philanthropic foundation to assess how the American Cancer Society is building organizational commitment around health equity and how we are creating high impact action in communities. While we are engaging staff, we are also including our amazing volunteers in this effort and what to share their impact to this work thus far.
What we have in place
- We currently have data and history on how volunteers have been engaged, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have current volunteer champions that could be interviewed, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,397 , allowing us to demonstrate and share impact of volunteer engagement within our health equity work.
This project has the potential to be replicated in order to demonstrate volunteer impact on health equity. This in turn would lead toward building organizational commitment and capacity toward health equity by leveraging our current 1.2 million volunteers nationally and attracting new volunteers.
Project plan
Our mission
The American Cancer Society’s mission is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.
What we do
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Our Global Headquarters are located in Atlanta, Georgia, and we have regional and local offices throughout the country to ensure we have a presence in every community.
While most people know us for our research, we do so much more. We attack cancer from every angle. We promote healthy lifestyles to help you prevent cancer. We research cancer and its causes to find more answers and better treatments. We fight for lifesaving policy changes. We provide everything from emotional support to the latest cancer information for those who have been touched by cancer. And we do it all 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Testimonials
Patricia was wonderful to work with. She communicates well, organized, and on-time with her deadlines. She also provided great expertise on the project and shared resources that may be helpful to me in the future. It was great collaborating with her!
Working with the American Cancer Society (ACS) Volunteer Engagement Department was incredible. It was honestly one of my best Catchafire projects. The reasoning for this comes down to the scope of the project itself. Being able to share with others the definition and importance of Health Equity was not only educational for me, but inspiring. I learned how much this relates to the cancer community at large, and to healthcare in general. Shanna, my main contact was also great to work with. She clearly explained what she needed from me to make this project a success. Whenever I had questions, she provided clarity. She was also generous with resources, be it a design expert's contact info or simply providing reading material. Shanna also provided timely feedback throughout our project milestones. She has mentioned she will follow up with me once the deliverable I worked on is implemented. I would be delighted to work with her and the ACS Volunteer Engagement Department once again in the future.
