Project details

What we need
  • A compelling narrative, or set of stories
  • Persuasive copy that can be used in appeals to donors, annual reports, grant applications, and media relations
  • Popular examples: Organization's founding story, a program achievement or milestone, a look back at the past few years, organizational backgrounder, etc.
  • Note: This project is not intended to support your general content planning or marketing but there are several projects in our Marketing & Communications category which are a good fit!
Additional details

Stories about the role of the Santa Cruz River in stakeholders lives. We have completed seven interviews and drafted four stories. You can help on the last three! One is from a long-time rancher, one is from a school teacher, the last is the operator of a water treatment facility.

What we have in place
  • We currently have notes, audio recordings and photos, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have completed drafts to demonstrate expected tone and style, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,639 , allowing us to increase community outreach and education on the value of the Santa Cruz River.

The Santa Cruz is an important river in the arid Southwest with a unique water source: treated wastewater. This makes it cleaner than most other rivers, but the water owners could decide to put the water to other uses. These stories describe how the locals view the river and will help make a case for additional attention and protection of the river.

Our mission

The Sonoran Institute's mission is to connect people and communities with the natural resources that nourish and sustain them.

What we do

We work at the nexus of commerce, community, and conservation to help people in the North American West build the communities they want to live in while preserving the values which brought them here. We envision a West where civil dialogue and collaboration are hallmarks of decision making, where people and wildlife live in harmony, and where clean water, air, and energy are assured.

Storytelling Project

I had a fantastic time working with Amanda and the Sonoran Institute. It was the work I am interested in and for a great cause. I learned so much about the Santa Cruz River and the whole team was very encouraging and friendly. For the duration of the project, I definitely felt like a member of the team. I would gladly work with them again, and recommend them highly to anyone who's considering volunteering for another project.
