Facilitated Strategy Session

Project Details

What We Need
  • Expert third party advice on process or managerial changes, geographic or programmatic expansion, potential pivots, or general strategic planning
  • Facilitation of an intensive, one-day strategic planning session with staff and/or Board
  • Note: If necessary, a follow-up strategic planning session may be scheduled
Additional Details

We are planning for the pilot of a teen makerspace production program that will include a design track which will make STEAM kits for the makerspace for kids and a production track that will make customer gifts for companies. Our goal will be to help create more sustainable programming for kids and youth. We have our first corporate client, ideas for gifts, and a 3D laser cutter. We have also posted for a business plan review on this site and would love a facilitated marketing strategy session.

What We Have In Place
  • We currently have a strong team that includes a business school graduate, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a supporting business plan we are developing, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How This Will Help
This project will save us $4,465 , allowing us to reinvest into our programs and services for kids and youth.

This project is important because it will help us to build long term sustainability for our kids and teen makerspaces.

About The Org

Our Mission

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS) is a multi-service organization with a primary focus on helping children, youth, and adults to build 21st-century skills. Our mission is to enhance the lives of the culturally and economically diverse residents of Maverick Landing, East Boston, and surrounding communities by:

+Motivating people to achieve economic, educational, and personal goals.
+Linking people to support systems.
+Creating leadership opportunities
+Strengthening youth, families, and community.

What We Do

Our family support-based model of building 21st century skills runs from zero to adulthood:

Early Care (0-5) with a Family Nurturing program for parents and playgroups in Arabic & Spanish, implemented in collaboration with BPS Countdown to Kindergarten.
Children (7-12): after-school and summer program offering academic support, socioemotional development, and STEM engagement.
Teen Programs (13-18): a workforce development and social enterprise program that helps teens build 21st century skills to advance their educational and economic goals.
Adult Programs: English Innovations, a tech-infused language learning model; the Work, Tech and Life Skills program helps adults with digital job search, setting up a LinkedIn profile and digitizing resumes and portfolios through EastieCoders- a front end website development study group.

We have also begun to host regular social events to build social capital and community cohesion, supporting the success of our programs and providing us with volunteer support from the community.
