Project details

What we need
  • A compelling narrative, or set of stories
  • Persuasive copy that can be used in appeals to donors, annual reports, grant applications, and media relations
  • Popular examples: Organization's founding story, a program achievement or milestone, a look back at the past few years, organizational backgrounder, etc.
  • Note: This project is not intended to support your general content planning or marketing but there are several projects in our Marketing & Communications category which are a good fit!
Additional details

I am looking to capture interviews and stories from Dignity residents and stakeholders. I would love to have a series of short and long stories to have on hand throughout the year.

What we have in place
  • We currently have identified several residents willing to be interviewed, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have new residents moving in that have compelling stories to tell, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,397 , allowing us to put the money back into our programs and housing.

Dignity has been working to update our marketing materials, website, and outreach to donors. We want to be better and more consistent about communicating who we are and what we do

Our mission

Dignity Housing's mission is to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty that confronts low-income families and individuals in the city of Philadelphia. Dignity Housing breaks the cycle of homelessness by providing quality transitional and permanent supportive housing, promoting self-sufficiency, and creating opportunities.

What we do

Anchored by case management, Dignity offers a range of services to residents- including life skills development, employment, and education services, health and wellness supports, and housing placement services (for a successful transition to permanent housing). Additionally, Dignity provides educational activities for children and youth. Upon entering Dignity, case managers assess immediate needs for livable income, food, transportation, childcare, etc. and ensure appropriate action toward meeting these needs. They connect residents with benefits and work with them to develop short-term goals and action steps with paths to long-term self-sufficiency.

For homeless families and individuals, moving into a Dignity unit is often the first time in months that they have a safe place to sleep at night, without the stress of where they will sleep tomorrow. Dignity's 58 units of housing range from efficiency apartments to three-bedroom houses. Dignity's Property Management Department cares for the properties by performing ongoing maintenance, repairs and hiring experienced contractors when needed. Dignity staff works closely with all contractors to ensure everyone follows agency protocol and that tenants receive the highest quality service. Every unit has a kitchen with standard appliances, and our Alicia's House program (for domestic violence survivors) is fully furnished

Testimonials

Deepa was wonderful to work with. She understood that she would be interviewing a person who had experienced trauma so she did research to be trauma-informed. She wanted to ensure she didn't ask a question to trigger their PTSD. She was incredibly respectful and provided me with excellent stories.

Storytelling Project

This project was a powerful experience for me – Dignity provides a life-changing service for the individuals & families they serve, and I was glad I could play a small part in helping them tell their story! My contact Jessica was fun and easygoing to work with, and gave me everything I needed to do the job.
