What we need
- A written document that identifies the Organization's timeline, onboarding goals, recommended responsibilities and support for new hire success:
- An onboarding checklist and timeline template that can be completed by the Organization for each new hire
- A suggested checklist and template outlining onboarding methods the Organization should pursue to meet its goals (human resources and information technology materials, department presentations, mentor assignment, skill sharing, etc.)
- Recommendations on how to delegate onboarding responsibilities within the Organization or department, if applicable
- A short plan for communicating with the new hire prior to their first day of work
What we have in place
- We currently have an employee onboarding binder, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have other supplemental documentation, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $8,686 , allowing us to redirect those resources to further strengthen our unique Restorative Justice programs, which are designed to divert youth away from the justice system and get them back in their communities.
Creating a streamlined and consistent onboarding process for our agency will help us to create a strong foundation for new staff members as we welcome them to the team. In turn, this project will result in long term staff retention, help foster an empowering and organized work environment for new hires, and subsequently positively impact the youth, families and communities that we serve.

Our mission
Centinela Youth Services strengthens families and communities and helps build successful students and productive adults, leveraging the principles of restorative justice to empower peaceful conflict resolution. We are committed to ending the institutionalized practices in schools and justice systems that are primarily responsible for maintaining the school-to-prison pipeline, and disproportionately impact youth of color.
