Project details

What we need
  • Assessment of specific Organizational needs mapped to specific board roles
  • Candidate evaluation guide for prospective board members, including suggested vetting questions and timeline
  • Marketing tools and guidance on how to execute recruitment
  • Note: This project does not include actual board recruitment on the part of the Professional
What we have in place
  • We currently have a description of the board responsibilities and expectations, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have info regarding our orgs mission at redemptionhousing.org, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $7,822 , allowing us to further expand programming, such as subsidized rent for men returning from incarceration.

Our organization is small but entirely run by volunteers and as a result our board has an active role in managing the organization. We have plans to grow significantly over the next year but need assistance in a few key areas and could benefit by adding experience to our board. Our challenge is knowing how to recruit board members who may not currently be connected to our org.

Our mission

Redemption Housing is a recovery organization that offers faith-based programming and community support to Philadelphians coming out of incarceration and homelessness. We invite these marginalized people back into community to free them from bondage, and we address their needs as whole people to bring about their physical, emotional, and spiritual freedom.

What we do

Locust House is a four-bedroom, fully furnished home that opened in 2017 for returning citizens who are in their 'next level' of reentry. Residents have been released in the past 1-5 years and have already started building a supportive foundation but benefit from the access to housing and mentoring that we provide.

Barnabas House is an upcoming 12-month program that is designed to guide men coming directly from incarceration back into the community. Through intentional relationships and access to social services in a dignified environment, men will develop the support to break free of crime, addiction, and homelessness.
