What we need
  • A written succession plan that outlines a vision of the future leadership team, how to develop future leaders within the Organization and/or seek new talent to fill gaps, strategies for reducing disruption during a transition, and a draft timeline for any known upcoming leadership changes.
  • Coaching on how to engage senior leaders and key funders, and strategies for gaining the commitment of board members and staff to manage a planned or an unexpected transition intentionally.
Additional details

Funding to cover 2-3 months of overlapping salaries for the retiring ED and the Incoming ED for training purposes.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a dedicated succession planning committee, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a grantwriter seeking funds to support the costs involved in the transition, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $16,398 , allowing us to Actually, the Succession Planning Committee wants to hire a $60,000 consultant! This project would help develop a more realistic budget for achieving a similar result more economically.

There is no alternative to the project in light of the ED's impending retirement. The goal will be to hire someone capable of continuing the mediation center in terms of mediation excellence as well as financial stability.

  • Volunteer Manager provides Professional with the Organization's strategic plan and an outline detailing the Organization’s current standing, current and upcoming challenges, and leadership qualities that are believed to be necessary to navigate these challenges

  • Professional and Volunteer Manager go over succession planning readiness questions
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager go over organization’s strategic plan
  • Professional brainstorms with Volunteer Manager to better understand challenges, current leadership and staffing
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager conduct board self assessment or executive performance evaluation, if needed

  • Professional creates a succession plan that outlines a vision of the future leadership team, guidelines on how to develop future leaders within the organization and/or seek new talent to fill gaps, and a draft timeline for planned leadership succession
  • Organization provides feedback to Professional's plan

  • Professional delivers a final succession plan outlining implementation of recommendations
