Project details

What we need
  • A list of potential corporations or foundations to target for a specific partnership or grant opportunity
Additional details

Understanding of the Bay Area and Oakland specifically would be a huge plus.

What we have in place
  • We have a long history of successful programs and are well positioned to make new connections with foundations or corporate partners. One of our programs ( Community Reading Buddies) is almost entirely grant funded so we have some history there, knowing what works and who may work with us. We want your profession guidance on next steps.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,828 , allowing us to allocate this funding to our scholarship accounts. We hope to serve additional students with full year, one-on-one tutoring and academic support.

Our organization has gone through lots of transitions in leadership in the past year, some of which have affected out funding. We need support identifying new partnerships that will offer funding, no matter who is leading the organization. Your skills as a professional will help us find the stability and funding to better serve our student population.

Our mission

Our mission is to advance educational equity in the Bay Area by delivering high-quality academic services to our youth and through our youth.

Our Mission Statement:

Aspire Education Project dedicates itself to the academic excellence of students in the San Francisco Bay Area through building relationships, encouraging academic engagement, and empowering those we teach to educate others.

What we do

1-on-1 Tutoring
Our dynamic corps of tutors work across the academic subject spectrum, securing academic success for the students they support. We are also trusted providers of Test Prep tutoring, and offer free proctored tests to all students. We distribute scholarships worth $30,000 each year to students who cannot afford market-rate tutoring.

Programs and Partnerships
We collaborate with schools and community organizations to provide educational support for the students who might otherwise slip through the cracks. Our programs support over 800 students with reduced-cost programs, classes and curricula each year.

Community Reading Buddies
Our flagship program has been connecting teen mentors with young readers in Oakland for 24 summers and counting. Its powerful youth-led model combats the enormous disparities in early literacy among the Bay Area's youngest residents.
