Talent Recruitment Call

Call details

What we'd like to talk about

I need to recruit volunteers with specific skill sets and want to brainstorm ways to do so. I'm seeking feedback on how to improve how we market our program and opportunities to volunteers.

Additional context

I am the newest hire on my team, and its been conveyed that I will be managing/directing our organization's volunteer network. The tricky thing is that it seems that I have to build this volunteer base from scratch because there hasn't been consistent tracking of our current volunteers and their skill sets. We're a small team, and according to our strategic plan, our team is expected grow within the next couple of years. I would love some sage advice on how to plan accordingly.

"Phone calls" are 1 hour, one-time calls with an organization. Learn the difference between volunteering on a Phone call and a Project here.

Our mission

"To empower underserved youth to realize their possibilities through music."

What we do

The Atlanta Music Project's (AMP) mission is: To empower underserved youth to realize their possibilities through music; it is our goal to bridge the educational gap and ensure underserved youth are empowered to reach their fullest potential. Founded in 2010, AMP is a nonprofit youth development program dedicated to changing the social landscape and perceived outcomes of children of low-income communities. We fulfill our mission by delivering over 5,000 hours of tuition-free, intensive afterschool music program to more than 300 children in the underserved communities of south Atlanta. Best of all, we provide to them everything necessary for a quality music education - instruments, teaching artists, lessons (group and private), practice space, and multiple opportunities to compete and perform.

AMP's offers four tracts of programming:
AMP Symphony Orchestra meets 2 - 3 days each week at three City of Atlanta Arts and Culture Center sites (Gilbert House, Perkerson, and South Bend recreation centers)
AMPlify Choir meets 2 days each week at two sites (Zaban and Gilbert House recreation centers)
AMP Academy students receive a weekly private lesson from an AMP teaching artist, perform two solo recitals annually, participate in masterclasses with top artists, and must pass an adjudicated performance jury at the end of each school year.
AMP Summer Series is a three-week music school and festival based in the Sylvan Hills neighborhood.
