Market Analysis for Income-Generating Organizations

Project details

What we need

A market analysis will include the following:

  • Total addressable market - The total amount of revenue that the organization could generate if it acquired every potential vested constituent (customer, client, or member).
  • Cost benefit analysis - A comparison of the total expected costs against the total expected benefits of one or more actions in order to choose the best or most profitable option.
  • Market growth rate - The predicted market growth rate over a predetermined period.
  • Market segmentation - The total addressable market can be segmented along the lines of a variety of factors. A market segmentation includes an analysis of the pros and cons of targeting particular market segments given the market potential, the competitive context, the organization's capabilities, and the ease of reaching those segments.
  • Existing consumer base versus potential market - An analysis of the organization's existing product or service offering including the optimality of the existing customer base and the potential for new target audiences. This includes the identification of relevant market trends.
  • Benchmarks - Metrics for measuring performance, such as membership growth, sales, and individuals served to gauge progress relative to peer organizations.
  • Competitive landscape analysis - The identification of competitors and evaluation of their strategies to determine their strengths and weaknesses relative to those of the Organization's product or service. This analysis will help the Organization to develop a competitive advantage.
  • Distribution Channels - Analysis of the effectiveness of existing marketing and distribution channels and the potential in utilizing new channels.
  • Recommendations on how to act on the results from the market analysis.

    Owner at 5 Pound Apparel

    Our mission

We are a social enterprise in Springfield, Missouri. Our brand, 5 Pound Apparel, provides five pounds of food and nutritional treatment to malnourished children in Nepal - a donation equaling 50% of our profits. Every brand we carry provides some sort of aid to people in need.

    What we do

Through the brands in our store our goal is to provide a sustainable stream of support to various non-profits. Everything we carry gives back to a charity in a unique and meaningful way. In our first year we have been able to provide the following support to non profits all over the world:

900 books to Books for Africa (Out of Print Clothing)
3,500 lbs of food and treatment to Nepal Nutrition (5 Pound Apparel)
$3,250 to Convoy of Hope for the Joplin tornado
Over $1,000 to various charities locally
School meals for a year for 17 students in Africa (Feed Projects)

Our goal for 2012 is to expand the reach of 5 Pound Apparel which will ultimately provide more support to these organizations. We will do so by 1. expanding and improving our online store, www.5poundapparel.com and 2. begin wholesaling 5 Pound Apparel to various retailers which will increase our donations and raise awareness for the brand.
