Board Recruitment Strategy

Animals

This project will save us $9,000, allowing us to eliminate various fees and expenses associated with operating the event. That will enable us to make larger donations to Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House and Pennsylvania Veterinary Foundation.

What We Need

  • Assessment of specific Organizational needs, which are mapped to specific Board roles
  • Outline of the ideal Board structure, and specific roles to be filled
  • Candidate evaluation guide for prospective board members
  • Marketing tools and guidance on how to execute recruitment
  • Note: This project does not include actual Board recruitment on the part of the Professional

How This Will Help

We are looking to build a committee of philanthropic-minded individuals--who might or might not be dog lovers :)--to assist in organizing the 2018 National Dog Show Gala. We have struggled to identify willing parties to invest the time. Our thinking is that board recruitment tactics and strategies via Catchafire might be an answer. The National Dog Show Gala takes place the night before the annual Kennel Club of Philadelphia Dog Show, November 17-18, just outside Philadelphia. It raises money for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House and the Pennsylvania Veterinary Foundation and takes place at Valley Forge Casino.

What We Have In Place

We have the resources of Vizion Group, a marketing and PR agency based in Berwyn, PA, and its team of operatives who plan and execute National Dog Show Month in Philadelphia events. The Kennel Club of Philadelphia membership includes volunteers from the Philadelphia region, who organize the annual National Dog Show, which dates back to 1879. The National Dog Show and the Kennel Club of Philadelphia work closely with media partners NBC Philadelphia, the Beasley Broadcasting Group of Delaware Valley Radio Stations, MetroKids magazine, and WEEU radio in Reading, PA.

Fun Fact

A great opportunity to work with dynamic, community-service minded people is there for volunteers in the Greater Philadelphia area. We also have the National Dog Show Charity Walk, art exhibit, theatrical production, and, of course, the dog shows at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
