Project details
What we need
- Feedback on the current website’s layout, user functionality, mobile-friendliness, visual design, content, and other key features
- Clear articulation of the Organization’s goals for the website
- Recommendations for improvements to help achieve the Organization’s desired goals
- Note: If you are looking for a more specific, in-depth audit of your website's design and usability, try our Website Usability Audit project
Additional details
It would be nice to include:
A recommended scope for a design and construction project to address the audit findings .
A recommendation for metrics and analysis to add to our site to ensure that the site is delivering on our objectives.
What we have in place
- We have a website designed on WordPress. We believe that it needs to be modernized with a fresh, new perspective (https//www.oceancountyhistory.org).
Google analytics will be available for the audit as well.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,762 , allowing us to offer historical museum tours and programs in our community including local elementary schools and senior citizen groups.
The Ocean County Historical Society is the eminent steward of Ocean County history-- We have extensive archival materials, rotating exhibits, artifacts, and programs. We continue to identify new pathways for innovation for our research library & archival collections materials. As an all volunteer organization relying primarily on grants, we have not had a program in place to attract and secure private funding from the community. We now have a critical need to develop a development/marketing campaign that will attract more community support in all areas: donors, members, volunteers, and visitors. We need to start with a fresh website.
Project plan
Our mission
The Ocean County Historical Society is a volunteer, nonprofit organization established in 1950, whose mission is the preservation of the history of Ocean County and the education of its citizens about their history through such methods as publications, programs, classes and trips. To achieve this purpose, the society maintains a museum to exhibit and store documents and artifacts as well as a library for historical and genealogical research.
What we do
The Ocean County Historical Society "tells the stories of Ocean County" through the following methods: exhibits, programs, newsletters, school trips, community outreach programs, accessibility to historical documents and archival research, and partnerships with other civic groups.
Testimonials
(No testimonial has been submitted by Gail)
With a mission of telling the stories of Ocean County, this dedicated group have worked tirelessly to collect, archive, catalogue, preserve, display and curate an impressive trove of Ocean Count, NJ history while honoring the people who made those contributions. It has only been through this wonderful endeavor taken on by the noble efforts of an all volunteer Ocean County Historical Society board and staff that they have been able to acknowledge the legacy of human lives in this way. It was my pleasure working with the organization - in particular Brian (board president) and Gail (development consultant) - to make a small contribution in reviewing their website identity as it reflects the organization’s marketing communications and brand elements.
