Project details

What we need
  • Assessment of current donors, volunteers, beneficiaries and other constituents to pinpoint people who are interested in serving your Organization
  • Informal staff and board interviews to survey potential connections and/or leads
  • A document of up to ten pages that lists potential board members based upon your Organization's data and current audiences
  • Note: The Professional will not be communicating with prospective board members.
Additional details

We are seeking around 3-5 additional long-term volunteer board members. We would (preferably) want someone who has a background in the legal, financial (bookkeeping/accounting), and program/event planning field. We would also love to have prospects who have had an extensive background in working for nonprofits, working with senior populations, health/fitness, and fundraising.

What we have in place
  • We have a company website, cefn.org, which will provide you with a comprehensive overview of our mission, initiatives, and goals. Our board currently consists mainly of volunteers and we also have 5 temporary interns at CEFN. We are in the formative stages of completing our bylaws and we need assistance with structuring committees in our board. In addition, we also have a YouTube channel www.youtube.com/@cefnphila for you to learn more about us. If you ever need anything, please reach out.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,198 , allowing us to focus more of our money towards benefiting the Philadelphia older adult community through our nutrition programs, health/wellness fairs, annual senior gala fundraisers, and much more.

We want to be able to pursue our vision and goals in a more sustainable manner. We believe this could be achieved by having more permanent board members that could aid us in developing a strong infrastructure for CEFN.

Our mission

Community Enrichment Fitness Network's (CEFN) mission is to empower individuals who want to make a permanent healthy lifestyle change through healthy eating and becoming more physically active. This is accomplished through our various programs and events. Our target audience is African-American older adults in the Philadelphia community.

What we do

CEFN history originally began as the Christian Entertainment Fellowship Network in 1997 but changed its name and mission to help individuals make a healthy lifestyle change in 2007 May.

Today, CEFN hosts several community programs and a television show dedicated to teaching adults, children, and seniors how to eat healthier and become more active. Our current programs include Nutrition and Awareness Cooking Class, Senior Gala Fundraisers, Senior Health Expos, and Focus on Fitness TV. The nutrition and awareness program includes educating older adults in new ways of eating by cooking and receiving tips from guest speakers. The senior galas consist of healthy meals, dances to stay active, and giveaways for the older adults. The senior expos are composed of health screenings, life-changing workshops, and physical exercise demos. The Focus on Fitness TV includes 30 minutes of health and fitness show on the Philly Cam channel. The focus is to give the community access to health and fitness information in the comfort of their own home. This program includes interviews with nutrition experts, healthy food demonstrations by chefs, and physical activities provided by fitness experts.
