Project details

What we need
  • Well-written and compelling copy for marketing or communication materials; examples include a brochure, blog post, one-pager/fact sheet, fundraising/promotional materials
  • Messaging that is consistent with brand identity, public relations strategy and communications objectives
Additional details

The purpose of the copy is to translate research on "what sparks action? and what is the impact of arts and culture on this?" in a toolkit tailored to the needs of environmental justice groups. The research included an extensive literature review as well as 10 interviews with representatives of environmental justice groups in NYC. Now that the results of the research are out it is important to be able to communicate about them in a digestible way. The copy would not be more than 30 pages.

What we have in place
  • You will be working closely with me, Rosalie, researcher in residence at the Human Impacts Institute. Firstly, you will have to dive in the research that I did, by reading the literature review and results of the interviews. Together, we can brainstorm a suitable output of the research, which will be tailored to the needs of environmental justice groups. We have a communications guide that can help you identify the voice and tone of the Human Impacts Institute.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,212 , allowing us to concentrate in reaching out to environmental justice organizations, artists and other researchers to ensure inclusion, insights and ethics of the project.

The project is part of a broader program of the Human Impacts Institute called the Creative Climate Communications Lab (C3Lab). The C3Lab explores and experiments with creative methodologies for community-engagement methods driving environmental justice action.

We are a creative, action-oriented community of arts, policy, science, communications, and business experts committed to creating and sharing innovative approaches to tackling social and environmental challenges.

What we do

The Human Impacts Institute was founded in 2011 and over the course of the past seven years, HII has provided over 1,200 hours of environmental educational programming across several core themes. The themes include stewardship-based initiatives such as Tree Care, environmental justice public resources such as the Impact Hours series, and climate communication programs such as the Creative Climate Awards, a competition bringing climate-inspired art to NYC audiences and beyond. HII's framework focuses on using arts and creativity as a tool for strengthening traditional environmental action methods. HII has developed environmental programs on a variety of topics for diverse audiences. Programs include youth environmental leadership intensives, community environmental workshops, local estuary and tree care stewardship opportunities for all ages, and more. These programs strive to integrate creative projects such as film and video, graphic design, tree guard building, and more.

We know there's a gap between knowing, understanding, and taking action. By building diverse communities and connecting you to solutions in beautiful and engaging ways, we inspire you to take action by making issues personal and practical to your life.
