What we need
  • Ongoing professional development support for 10-15 hours over the course of 4 weeks
  • Support may include: working on your personal professional development goals, advising on management best practices, and coaching on a specific skill
  • Note: We devised this project to connect nonprofits and volunteers for more flexible, more immediate impact. We strongly suggest you start with 4 weeks and decide from there if you'd like to continue working together

Help build then 30-60-90 days plan for team leads and department heads at JerseySTEM

What we have in place
  • We currently have a pool of volunteer managers, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have an existing tech infrastructure to roll out processes, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $1,955 , allowing us to provide instruction to 20 additional kids

Ensuring we have a scalable mechanism to set goals and objectives for the first 3 months of our volunteers is key to our success

  • Volunteer Manager provides information on current state of professional development at the Organization
  • Volunteer Manager provides overview of ongoing professional development needs they have over the next 2-4 weeks
  • Volunteer and Volunteer Manager align on the scope of ongoing support that the Volunteer will provide to address this need

Step 1: Ongoing Support
  • Volunteer delivers ongoing support according to determined outline
  • Weekly check-ins to ensure support is being offered as agreed upon by both parties

Step 2: Training & Offboarding
  • Volunteer provides any relevant training to the Volunteer Manager to help them continue work or answer their own questions, where appropriate, after 4 weeks

JerseySTEM is a grassroots 501(c) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math ("STEM") education to 5th-8th grade girls in New Jersey underserved communities

We partner with socially responsible companies and their employees, youth organizations in underserved communities, and civic-minded college students and universities.

Together we develop and deliver innovative, hands-on, and online afterschool projects and inquiry-based learning opportunities that develop teamwork, 21st-century problem-solving skills, and self-esteem.

What we do

Reduce the gender gap in STEM participation;

Bridge the innovation gap in STEM education by introducing novel formats for teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math;

Address the opportunity gap by expanding access to STEM programs in underserved communities.
