Membership Strategy
Membership Strategy
Project details
What we need
- A Membership Strategy document of 2-4 pages, including analysis of the Organization’s current membership program, step-by-step guide to a new or improved program, growth goals and creative outreach strategies
What we have in place
- Currently, MOCA has a website with our brand messaging and graphic identity. We have more than 10,000 subscribers to our E-news mailing list, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have 13k FB follows, 10k Twitter fans and 900+ Instagram followers, and a small list of press contacts.
How this will help
This project will save us $7,888 , allowing us to serve 370 current members and engage our growing community.
This project will help our membership grow in both quantity and quality. We will be better equipped to empower our communities with new, effective membership strategies. We want to bridge the various communities MOCA has served, and appeal to a broader demographic, on a global scale. We have been faced with a low retention rate of our members, particularly at the higher levels. At this point we would like to partner with a Catchafire volunteer who has experience with and who cares about preserving and advancing the diverse narratives and cultural heritage of Chinese in America.
Project plan
Our mission
MOCA’s mission is to celebrate the living history of the Chinese experience in America, to inspire our diverse communities to contribute to America’s evolving cultural narrative and civil society, and to empower and bridge our communities across generations, ethnicities and geography through our dynamic stories.
What we do
MOCA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational and cultural institution that presents the living history, heritage, culture and diverse experiences of Chinese Americans through exhibitions, educational services and public programs. It began in 1980 as the community-based New York Chinatown History Project, founded by community and student activists led by historian John Kuo Wei Tchen and Charles Lai. It has since grown to encompass the stories and journeys of the many communities of Chinese America, both in the New York Metro area and across the U.S., including new immigrants and established multi-generation families.
