Project details
What we need
- Document outlining Organization’s or a specific program’s strengths and weaknesses as well as potential opportunities and threats
What we have in place
- We have an engaged board that has already met several times discussing different delivery models of healthcare. We have a great relationship with both hospital systems and a very large private practice that may be willing to take on the Medicaid piece at our facility. The local FQHC has gone bankrupt and that has put an additional 5000 patients in our community seeking access to healthcare. We currently have a strategic plan that we can modify to address potential Medicaid expansion. Our desire is to be prepared for any change that threatens access for our patients.
How this will help
This project will save us $7,888 , allowing us to purchase 1 year of medical supplies to treat 1500 patients.
We have been providing primary medical care to the uninsured for 17 years. If Medicaid expands in NC, 1/2 of our population will be eligible for Medicaid coverage. How do we adapt to this change; do we take Medicaid, co-locate with a medicaid provider, or cut our operation in half and serve only the uninsured? We do feel that Medicaid does not guarantee access to healthcare; so our mission may need to change to address those most vulnerable in our community. This project would allow us to analyze the different models and chose the one best for our patients.
Project plan
Our mission
To create a medical home for uninsured families and individuals in the communities that we serve. We strive to empower our patients by educating them on ways to achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their loved ones. We serve patients at 200% or below Federal Poverty.
What we do
We provide comprehensive medical care to the uninsured in Mecklenburg County. Sixty-two percent of our patients fall below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level, thus making them ineligible for the Affordable Care Insurance Marketplace. Annually we provide over 7500 medical appointments for over 1500 individual patients.
Testimonials
Bill put together a SWOT analysis in a power point presentation that I could easily share with my board of directors. The research he put into the analysis was extremely helpful for the board as we work on our strategic plan for the next 5 years. I truly appreciated the time and work he put into this project.
