Our mission

Ingenuity’s mission is to ignite the creative spark where the arts, science, and technology intersect. By animating Cleveland’s urban spaces with world-class, innovative experiences, Ingenuity provides a unique platform to explore the boundaries of art and technology.

Created to celebrate our region's deep creative, cultural, and business resources through an annual large-scale, destination event, we are evolving into a city-wide festival, with multiple venues spanning several days.

What we do

Ingenuity is different. It is an arts and cultural organization born out of the unique trends emblematic of the 21st century. We are satisfying a growing need for informal but engaged settings that allow audiences to interact and participate in activities that blend the arts with technology, engineering, and science.

Audiences today are looking for experiences outside the typical venues. In this highly experiential culture, people want to consume their culture through casual, non-intimidating experiences. Instead of buying a ticket and sitting quietly or moving slowly through a static exhibition, today's audiences want to come and go as they like, dress casually, and have a chance for more hands-on interaction.

Ingenuity is best known for our annual Festival, IngenuityFest, but in recent years, we have purposely broadened our reach through additional events and educational programming. We are an organization that exists intentionally without a performance or exhibit facility, allowing us to seek out collaborative partnerships with organizations and institutions who understand the unique programming Ingenuity can bring to them or that we can create together. We see this as a strong 21st century arts organization model, and it uniquely positions Ingenuity within our community as creative producers of cultural experiences.

Looking ahead, we are focused on even more effective impact on the community by growing the number of events we produce, through the support of an expanded list of partner organizations. At the same time, we will continue to strengthen the relationship we have with our incredibly broad creative community through live town-hall style meetings and virtual Google Hangouts.
