What we need
Donate Life NC currently has committed, professional board members who are experts in donation and transplantation, but who are often feeling "burned out" and who are not necessarily comfortable fundraising. They often fill their roles on our board as part of their professional responsibilities at their respective employers. We need help identifying what our Board should be doing -- and who needs to be at the table.
What we have in place
- We currently have a strong strategic plan and a Board Development Committee, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have great volunteers with community connections, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $11,395 , allowing us to recruit 5 diverse board members of influence and affluence.
The success of our organization depends on stong governance. Without your help, we cannot recruit board members. Your skills will empower us to build our board governance expertise.

Our mission
Our mission is to inspire all North Carolina residents to save and enhance lives by registering as organ, eye and tissue donors.
What we do
Inspiring more people to register as organ, eye and tissue donors so that thousands of lives can be saved and enhanced through transplants is our mission. We manage the registry for organ, eye and tissue donors in North Carolina, where there are more than 3,600 people on the waiting list for a life saving transplant - a heart, lungs, kidneys, liver. We focus particularly on outreach through NC DMV Driver's License offices and driver's education programs across the state to educate students before they are asked by their DMV Examiner, "Do you want to be an organ donor?" With more than 116,000 people on transplant waiting lists nationwide and 3,600+ in North Carolina, our work enhances and saves lives. One organ donor can save up to 8 lives and enhance the lives of up to 50 people with cornea and tissue donation.
