Earth Celebrations could use help editing and revising our event press release for our Ecological City: Creative Climate Solutions Action Project (Workshops and Procession for Climate Solutions) to engage media coverage from both arts, metro, urban planning newspapers, magazines, network news and online publications.
This project will help us market our organization with more extensive and in depth coverage including local, national and global publications from a variety of angles including the arts covering creative placemaking/community arts/ artistic activism, ecologically sustainability and climate change covering grassroots action on climate solutions and an urban model ecosystem of sustainability throughout community gardens, neighborhood and waterfront in New York City.
Earth Celebrations is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 on the Lower East Side of New York City to engage communities to generate ecological and social change through the arts. Our projects address climate change, river restoration, water quality, waste management and the preservation of community gardens, parks, and a healthy urban environment. Earth Celebrations has developed creative strategies, applying the arts, partnership building and environmental action to build broad-based coalitions and cross-sector partnerships with local organizations, academic institutions, government agencies, schools, and community residents to work together creatively on common goals and impact change.
Earth Celebrations engages communities through cultural and collaborative action projects to generate ecological, policy and social change. Earth Celebrations' past projects include the successful 15-year Save Our Gardens project (1991-2005), which utilized the transformative power of culture and an annual large-scale collaborative art project to mobilize a grassroots effort and build a local and then citywide garden preservation coalition that led to the preservation of hundreds of community gardens in New York City. The Hudson River Restoration Project (2009-2012) applied this creative model to engage community in the restoration efforts of the Hudson River estuary and revitalization of the waterfront. In 2018, Earth Celebrations launched Ecological City, a cultural organizing project to celebrate and bring together climate solutions and ecological sustainability initiatives to mitigate flooding, pollution run-off and the future consequences of sea-level rise within the network of community gardens, East River waterfront and neighborhood of the Lower East Side of New York City, and the importance of the local efforts to city and global climate challenges.
