Project details

What we need
  • Consultation regarding the Organization's current branding and desired branding objectives
  • Visual branding guidelines / style guide that include specific colors, fonts, and other graphic design elements to use in print and digital communications materials
  • High-resolution logo delivered electronically (in formats for digital and print use)
What we have in place
  • We know who we are marketing to – organizations and programs serving youth across the US - and that they are looking for this type of compelling content to help them connect with youth. We also have our organization logo and branding to build on as we want the program logo to be consistent with our organization’s existing visual branding. We also have amazing images and visuals from our films to work with.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,212 , allowing us to organize 150 screenings across the US, reaching 100s of children with our films & educational programs.

Shine Global has recently received funding to do a national screening series of our critically acclaimed documentaries across the US to reach youth who normally would not have the opportunity to see and interact with these films. Each film is accompanied by additional materials such as curricula, discussion guides, and art workshops, so that the youth viewers can delve deeper into the issues presented in each film while developing critical media literacy skills. We need to design a logo for this new program to help brand it and advertise it to youth programs in communities across the country.

Prep: Distribution of Prep Materials
  • Volunteer Manager provides Professional with current logo (if available), branding guidelines, and any existing marketing/communications materials
  • Volunteer Manager sends Professional examples of logos, brands, and design elements preferred, and links to website and social media pages

Milestone 1: Brainstorm
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager connect to discuss the branding goals, target audience, and preferred design elements
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager agree upon a style concept and the detailed scope of deliverables (e.g., logo, custom graphics, updated style guide, new style guide, etc.)

Milestone 2: Logo Design
  • Professional drafts up to three different logo designs and shares with the Volunteer Manager for feedback
  • Volunteer Manager selects one of the design options and provides feedback
  • Professional iterates upon the design for final delivery, including versions of the logo for different uses (e.g., black & white, full color, and formats for print and digital use)
  • Professional delivers the final version of the logo including specifications for usage (colors, size, etc.)

Milestone 3: Visual Branding Guidelines / Style Guide
  • Professional drafts the visual branding guidelines, which features the logo design and a specific set of colors, fonts, and any custom graphic elements to be incorporated in future communications
  • Volunteer Manager reviews the draft guidelines and provides feedback
  • Professional incorporates feedback and prepares the final version
  • If custom graphics are included in the agreed-upon scope of work, the Professional provides them in high-resolution formats for digital and print use

Since our founding in 2005 as a non-profit film production company, Shine Global has given voice to some of the world’s most at-risk children, shared their stories, inspired millions of viewers, and won more than 30 major film awards, an Academy Award® for Best Documentary Short, an Academy Award® nomination for Best Documentary, Best Director Documentary at Sundance, and two Emmy Awards®.

Shine makes theatrically cinematic films that empower children to tell their stories in a manner that reveals hope within horror. Beyond providing viewers with an emotional film experience, we intend to move them to social action through our partnerships with non-profits working with the children documented.
