Mission
Empowering adults experiencing homelessness in Dallas with the tools to homeless recovery as they move in to sustainable housing.
What We Do
The Bridge is Dallas County's homeless recovery center providing day shelter opportunities including meals, physical health, behavioral and mental health care, job placement assistance and housing services to adults experiencing homelessness. Envisioned in the early 2000's by homeless advocates, The Bridge opened in 2008 as a privately managed collaborative facility built by the City of Dallas, and funded by public and private donations. In FY19, The Bridge served 6,700 individuals experiencing homelessness, accounting for nearly 80 percent of Dallas County's homeless population. In a city with current homeless population of over 5,000, The Bridge has become an internationally recognized model for adult homeless recovery, focused on the treatment of mental illness and addiction. The Bridge is the lowest-barrier day and night shelter in Dallas, open to all homeless adults, providing a safe harbor 24 hours each day, 365 days a year.
