Mission

St. Bernard Project (SBP) exists to ensure that disaster-impacted communities recover in a prompt, efficient and predictable manner. Through Disaster Resilience & Recovery Lab (DRRL), SBP works to share lessons learned, prevent common barriers to recovery and help communities utilize SBP’s proven-effective model. Before disaster, the DRRL team will help small to mid-sized business owners in vulnerable communities understand and mitigate their risk. Following disaster, the team will work to ensure that impacted communities utilize SBP’s standardized, replicable model for post-disaster recovery.

SBP is an award-winning nonprofit pioneering a new model for disaster recovery nationwide. Since its founding in 2006, in response to Hurricane Katrina, SBP has rebuilt homes for nearly 900 families with the help of nearly 100,000 volunteers in
New Orleans; Joplin; Staten Island, NY; Rockaway, NY and Monmouth County, NJ.
