What We Do

MICROSOCIETY, Inc. is a national non-profit educational organization located in the heart of Old City, Philadelphia. At MICROSOCIETY we believe that kids learn best by doing. Our mission is to create environments that motivate children to learn by engaging them in the connections between the classroom and real life. Our educational model was developed in the late 1960's by a 23-year old rookie schoolteacher in Brooklyn who wanted to motivate his underprivileged kids to learn. Since 1991, we have provided training, curriculum, and support to schools seeking to implement a "real world" approach to education. Also known as " an antidote to school boredom", MicroSociety makes learning relevant to students and helps them answer the question, "Why do I need to know this?" Utilizing the latest technology and engaging 21st century habits of mind, MicroSociety cultivates today's learners to be tomorrow's leaders and innovators. Currently, our nationally recognized educational model has been implemented by over 300 schools and after-school programs nationwide, and we continue to grow.
