Mission

Mission
IMHR's mission is to support novel, early-stage research that addresses the most complex and problematic mental health issues facing society today. As part of this mission, IMHR encourages the translation of research into direct services and educational programs that serve critical mental health needs in the state and beyond.

Vision
To provide mental health researchers with the tools and seed funding necessary for seeking novel solutions that help facilitate evidence-based interventions until mental illnesses is obsolete.

What We Do

PRIMARY CAUSE: MENTAL HEALTH

IMHR awards start-up grants to researchers investigating urgently needed solutions to mental health challenges, from depression, anxiety and substance abuse, to neurological issues. Utilizing our early-stage funding, scientists are able to demonstrate validity for novel hypotheses, and go on to obtain more substantial funding to expand on their work, from national agencies such as the NIH. In this way, we keep the mental health research engine running - even when support is scarce. We also help to accelerate the process of translation from lab to practice, by disseminating research findings, and fostering collaborative opportunities for scientists, academics and healthcare thought leaders.
