Mission

Garrett's Space is dedicated to reducing suicides and filling critical gaps in supportive care options for young adults ages 18 to 28 facing mental health challenges. We are working to restore hope and perspective in this population by promoting connections, self worth and resilience.

What We Do

Garrett's Space was founded by Julie and Scott Halpert after they lost their son, Garrett, to suicide at the age of 23. When Garrett was struggling, Julie and Scott witnessed first-hand the critical gaps in support in our community and healthcare system for young adults struggling with depression and anxiety and who need something more than regular visits to their therapist.

The vision for Garrett's Space is to create a residential center that provides coping strategies and the type of activities and supportive environment that will attract and benefit young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, and suicidality. Julie and Scott believe that Garrett would have been interested in trying this resource even at his lowest points and that it would have helped him realize that he wasn't alone in his struggles and helped him gain renewed perspective and hope.
