Mission

Duffy Books in Homes USA, Inc. addresses the problem of “booklessness”, by providing elementary school students, who are in need, with quality books of their own choosing to promote a life-long love of reading.

What We Do

Duffy Books in Homes USA works with eligible school districts to provide free books to elementary school children. Schools are selected from areas where the children are most likely to come from “bookless” homes.

The State Department of Education determines the socio-economic status based on the percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch in each school district. Duffy Books in Homes USA targets schools with a minimum of 50% of the students receiving free or reduced lunch.

Each school joins in a financial partnership with Duffy Books in Homes USA through a variety of fund-raising activities or district budgets. Duffy Books in Homes USA identifies and secures local/regional/national sponsors that provide matching funds from interested sponsors who clearly value and support literacy enhancement opportunities for children. Active student involvement in this process is strongly encouraged to emphasize the value of reading.
