Mission

Dhara offers healing experiences to individuals so that they become empowered to take peaceful, thoughtful actions that maintain sustainable, flourishing communities. Programs teach practical healthy life skills adapted from Eastern yogic self-healing practices with special focus given to those living in low income or marginalized communities, recovering from trauma or addiction, or living with a mental illness. Supportive programming is also offered to those who serve these populations.

What We Do

Dhara, a nonprofit participating in the FJC Fiscal Sponsorship Program, teaches healthy living and wellness practices to bring balance to low income individuals living with mental health issues.

Through offering a safe, non-judgmental space to learn and interact, Dhara promotes individual growth and a sense of authentic community. All classes are aimed to inspire individuals to awaken to their fullest potential and to move towards deeper community involvement.

All sessions offer practical tools to support individuals in making healthy choices through teaching holistic self-healing techniques that integrate body, mind and spirit.

Pathways to Wellness is an open weekly class for those living with mental health issues.

Six Weeks to Wellness, Dhara’s signature program developed in collaboration with NAMI-NYC Metro, is a unique workshop series for individuals living with mental health issues who are looking to take more responsibility for their own health and healing through alternative, scientifically proven methods.
