Mission

"To empower underserved youth to realize their possibilities through music."

What We Do

The Atlanta Music Project's (AMP) mission is: To empower underserved youth to realize their possibilities through music; it is our goal to bridge the educational gap and ensure underserved youth are empowered to reach their fullest potential. Founded in 2010, AMP is a nonprofit youth development program dedicated to changing the social landscape and perceived outcomes of children of low-income communities. We fulfill our mission by delivering over 5,000 hours of tuition-free, intensive afterschool music program to more than 300 children in the underserved communities of south Atlanta. Best of all, we provide to them everything necessary for a quality music education - instruments, teaching artists, lessons (group and private), practice space, and multiple opportunities to compete and perform.

AMP's offers four tracts of programming:
AMP Symphony Orchestra meets 2 - 3 days each week at three City of Atlanta Arts and Culture Center sites (Gilbert House, Perkerson, and South Bend recreation centers)
AMPlify Choir meets 2 days each week at two sites (Zaban and Gilbert House recreation centers)
AMP Academy students receive a weekly private lesson from an AMP teaching artist, perform two solo recitals annually, participate in masterclasses with top artists, and must pass an adjudicated performance jury at the end of each school year.
AMP Summer Series is a three-week music school and festival based in the Sylvan Hills neighborhood.
