Mission
The sole mission of the American Kidney Fund (AKF) is to fight chronic kidney disease and help people live healthier lives. Founded in 1971, our organization has developed national and state-based programs focused on awareness, prevention, education, clinical research, advocacy, and financial assistance. Working on behalf of 37 million Americans living with kidney disease, we fight on all fronts to support people wherever they are in their fight against kidney disease--from prevention all the way through post-transplant living. Today, we provide financial aid to one out of six dialysis/transplant patients nationwide.
