Additional details
Anniversary video to celebrate 20 years no kill: The Richmond SPCA adopted a no-kill operating model in 2002, and we are recognizing that milestone in 2022. We propose to collect video messages from elected officials, community leaders, and people who've been served. These will be self-recorded (ideally with their pets) and submitted to be edited. While we're not ready to begin editing, I'd like to begin working with a volunteer on an outline and script before collecting footage.
What we have in place
- We've assembled news clippings from the time of the no-kill transition that can be scanned for inclusion in the video. These could be incorporated into transition elements.
We've begun a list of 25 individuals who've adopted from the Richmond SPCA from whom video messages will be requested. Before making those requests, we'd like to connect with a volunteer to discuss the prompts that will be used.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,422 , allowing us to transfer animals in need to our humane center from struggling municipal shelters.
This video will be used online in the lead up to an anniversary block party this spring. Our communications for the anniversary emphasize the progress made over 20 years, the animal lives saved and the human lives impacted. We're building excitement for the event and recognizing the broader community involvement that has led us to this point.
