Project details

What we need
  • Significant update to Organization’s existing CMS website, such as adding a new page, customizing a theme, adjusting layout, etc.
  • Smaller update to Organization's non-CMS website
Additional details

Our website is hosted on Wix. We would like the website to have the following: 1. A uniform theme based on a color palette we will provide, 2. Restructured landing pages, 3. A major update removing old information and adding new information. 4. Overall advice on how to make the website more user friendly and professional. 5. Overall website update and design editing throughout.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a color palette, copy, images, and a current Wix website, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have two staff members to support this project, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $11,946 , allowing us to support our larger Latinx community with professional development opportunities, workshops, artistic opportunities, and community gatherings through our yearly initiative titled, Dance in the Desert.

This project is important because it provides website marketing and content accessibility that supports a larger narrative centering Latinx bodies, aesthetics, and experiences from the U.S. Southwest on concert dance stages, where such themes are rarely seen. A website volunteer will help Safos professionally present content that represents the cultural diversity of the US/Mexico borderlands, to funders, theatres, and other important parties that may support this needed work.

Our mission

Safos Dance Theatre is a small non-profit dance company founded in Tucson in 2009. Safos' mission is to create contemporary artistic forms that reflect the common experiences of our diverse community. Focusing predominately on Latinxs, Safos provides a safe space for artists, encourages innovative movements, and uses non-traditional forms and body types to represent the cultural diversity of the US/Mexico borderlands.

What we do

Safos Dance Theatre fulfills our mission by offering programs that 1) support the work of Latinx dancemakers and 2) introduce the work of Latinx dancemakers to new audiences in Arizona.

As a small organization, Safos partners/collaborates with other Latinx serving and/or Arizona-based organizations to offer programs that fulfill our mission.

Current programs include: 1) Dance in the Desert (DITD): A Gathering of Latinx Dancemakers which Safos is a collaborator/partner. 2) Las Fronterizas project which is a multiyear multidisciplinary (dance, theater, digital arts) project in collaboration with Rising Youth Theatre (Phoenix), Border Arts Corridor (Douglas), and Teatro Komos (Guatemala City). 3) Support the creation and development of "Stories from Home" a new evening length dance piece by choreographer Yvonne Montoya. Featuring an all Latinx cast, SFH is a series of works inspired by oral histories collected from Montoya's family members. The dances are physical embodiments of the SW Latinx oral traditions; each piece is a story.
